XIXth Winter Olympic Games from 02/08 to 02/24/2002
For me, certainly the Games 2002 Salt Lake City where the enthusiasm was not really at the rendezvous. If shortly after the attacks of 11 September 2001, it was difficult, perhaps the Mormon spirit somewhat austere has not helped to bring some notes fantasies. My stay in youth hostel: deplorable because expensive with the unpleasant impression of being hijacked for the service provided. Major US flaw: business is business and it becomes anything.
Day 0 – opening Ceremony – 8 February
Discovery of my Youth hostel accommodation and first visit to the Olympic Park.
Days 1 and 2 – 9 and 10 February
Walk to discover the Olympic Park and its animations.
Day 6 – 14 February
The Walker Center, place of trading pins. Discovery of the city and its animations.
Day 7 – 15 February
Wanderings in the Olympic Park.
Day 8 – 16 February
The wagon that carried the Olympic flame throughout the USA.
Day 12 – 20 February
Following a security alert, the neighborhood where the collectors’ Olympic fair is being held is cordoned off and denied access by police and firefighters. A simple stink ball seems to be at the origin of this deployment of forces.
Day 13 – 21 February
Visit Park City, mountain venue of the Olympic Games. Pin trading at the Coca-Cola Trading Center.
Days 15 and 16 – Closing Ceremony – 23 and 24 February
Last days of the Salt Lake City Games, the flame that burned throughout the fortnight over the Olympic Stadium, is going out tonight.
