1998 Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)
4th World Olympic Collectors Fair from 11/24 to 11/29/1998
For 1998 Rio fair, 50 international collectors were invited by the Olympic national committee of Brazil to exhibit during 5 days to the hotel Sofitel Rio Palace, on the beach of Copacabana.
An extraordinary souvenir with a grand reception. Individual or shared stands have been installed.
There were only a few exchanges with the local population, unfortunately, because the site didn’t lends itself to collectors, Brazil never never having had the chance to organize Olympic Games. Hovewer, many schools are invited to visit the exposition and the bonds are tightened between the collectors.
Visits are organized by the Brazilian Olympic Committee. We will discover the Corcovado, taking the cogwheel train that allows access to the site. We are very lucky, because a bright sun accompanies us and allows us to admire the splendid landscape which is offered to our eyes. Another night, we are invited to a Samba show. We also have the chance to visit the famous Maracana stadium, the largest in the world.
The last day we even organize a visit to a favela pacified, in the company of a local guide. We then continue our tour into the district of Barra de Tijuca, still wild.
