from 09/06 to 09/08/2018
2018 Los Angeles. It is in the USA, in the City of Angels where will be held the Summer Olympics of 2028, that the 24th Olympic Collectors Fair takes place.
Wednesday, 5 September
The day before the first day of the fair, exhibitors / collectors are invited to collect their accreditations and to discover their stands. This is a double pass that we enjoy, the first allows us to access the room guarded by many vigils, the second identifies us as belonging to the Olympic part because our fair is organized within a .bourse numismatics. At 5PM, we climb on a bus that will take us to the Coliseum, the Olympic stadium that hosted the Games in 1932 and 1984 and will be renovated for those of 2028. After the tour, we are entitled to the lighting of the cauldron in our honor. Then we go back in the buses and go towards LA84 Foundation, a private foundation which, in other preserves the memory of Olympic archives and presents a collection of olympic memorabilia. A cocktail is offered to us.
Thursday, 6 September
It is the Convention Center of Long Beach which welcomes us for this 24th fair, an exceptional place. The opening ceremony will be held in the presence of various personalities including Dawn Harper-Nelson, gold medalist at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, in the 100m hurdles and John Naber, multiple gold medalist in Montreal 1976, in swimming. A small Olympic exhibition was composed especially with objects Memorabilia (torches, medals, mascots …), posters Los Angeles 1984 and a philatelic presentation. At the end of the day, we go to a nearby restaurant, for the silent auction and a cocktail dinner.

Dick Fosbury, inventor of the Fosbury flop (technical high jump on his back having earned the gold medal in Mexico 1968 in this discipline), is present to sign his book and sign autographs. At the end of the day, we are invited aboard the Queen Mary, a prestigious ocean liner from the beginning of the last century, moored for many years. Our gala evening is on board, in the Royal Salon privatized for the occasion. Las! the meal will not live up to the event …

Last trading day, distribution of diplomas to the exhibitors and the time comes to pack inexorably. A last friendly meeting is organized in a nearby restaurant. It’s time to say goodbye before meeting in Warsaw in 2019.
